The sole remaining swing bridge in Appleton, this large through truss bridge crosses over the Fox River.
Built in 1929, this Warren Through Truss bridge features a pair of riveted, 4-panel spans, which pivot on a center pier.
Downstream, the Milwaukee Road also once had a large swing bridge. However, this has since been removed.
Resting on concrete and stone substructures, this bridge operates daily, allowing traffic on the Fox River to pass through.
Overall, the bridge remains in relatively fair condition. Sometime after 1959, three deck girder spans on the east end of the bridge were removed.
The author has ranked the bridge as being moderately significant, due to the truss design.
The photo above is an overview. The bridge can be accessed from nearby trails.
